COUNTY FIRE PREVENTION ASSOCIATION MEETINGS DIVISION UPDATES – June 2011
The 8th Annual NJDFS Homeland Security & Fire Safety Conference will be held on Thursday, June 23, 8 a.m. at Downs Hall & Wilkins Theatre Kean University, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ. The New Jersey Division of Fire Safety Juvenile Fire Setter Advisory Council Presents:“Clinical Treatment Strategies and Solutions for Children Who Set and Misuse Fire”, June 15, 2011at Middlesex County Fire Academy – Sayreville, New Jersey, 8:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. Cost: $30.00 Social work C.E.U’S are pending from NASW. Continental Breakfast and hot luncheon will be provided. The ABC 7 Save-A-Life smoke detectors have arrived at the warehouse in Carteret and a pick-up schedule will be forwarded via e-mail to fire departments and fire prevention bureaus within the Channel 7 viewing area (all counties north of Burlington). Pick-ups will be as in years past will be one per month. Fire departments will be required to contact Charlie Luxton via e-mail cluxton@dca.state.nj.us to arrange for a pick-up. Contact information will be included in the schedule and e-mail. Kinder Morgan policy has not changed. Fire department members will be required to be in uniform and have a marked vehicle to enter KM property. If this requirement is difficult for some, they can contact Charlie for an alternate method of delivery. The deadline to contact Charlie Luxton for the June pick-up is June 14th. Pick-up at Kinder Morgan is June 16th at 10:00a.m.
The New Jersey Weekend Program at the National Fire Academy will held be on June 11-12, 2011. Attendees will have the opportunity to choose between nine two day courses. There are several ICC National Certification Examinations and FEE66 Fire Inspector I Based on 2006 International Codes testing for new inspectors scheduled. The next tests will be held on Saturday, June 11 2011, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Bergen County Fire Academy (Law and Public Safety Institute, Police, Fire & EMS), 281 Campgaw Road, Mahwah, NJ 07430, Saturday, September 10 2011, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Monmouth County Fire Academy, 1027 Hwy 33 East, Freehold, NJ 07728 and Saturday, December 10 2011, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy, 402 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. The cost of the exam is $180. The information bulletin may be obtained from ICC at www.iccsafe.org/exams or call 1-888-422-7233, ext. 5524.
