The mission of the Essex County Fire Prevention Association is to reduce fire losses and save lives by the promotion of fire prevention through education, engineering, the enforcement of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code and establishing a close liaison between the fire service, local government, industry, commerce and the public. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Fire Protection and Prevention, which currently includes individuals from the Fire & Rescue Service, Insurance Companies, Fire Sprinkler Industries, etc. |

About Us
The Essex County Fire Prevention and Protection Association is made up of Fire Prevention Bureau’s from the 21 Municipalities throughout Essex County. We also have a number of Associate members from different companies associated with the fire protection industries. Our goal is to protect the citizen’s of Essex County through code enforcement and education. We are responsible for inspecting all properties except one and two family dwellings. In February 2009 the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety has adopted the International Fire Code 2006 New Jersey Edition. |
